During the month of August, the Institute for Architectural Studies and Conservation is offering guided tours and interpretations of buildings designed by famous Island architect, William Critchlow Harris (1854-1913), in the centre of Charlottetown, on Tuesday afternoons at 4 pm and Fridays at 2 pm, weather permitting. This is a fundraiser for the Institute’s educational programs. Please call 940 3934 to reserve. Tours will be available at other times on request for a minimum of 5 people.
During the tour you will learn to recognize the architectural features of Harris’ designs and hear some of the history of Charlottetown. We are proud of and enjoy what remains of our built heritage and look forward to sharing our knowledge with you. The Institute is a committee of the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation which has its head office at Beaconsfield Historic House, 2 Kent Street. Beaconsfield is open for tours during the summer and on request. Two publications by the Institute are for sale in its bookstore:
Heritage Houses of Prince Edward Island by James W. Macnutt & Robert C.Tuck
